This course aims to provide students with deep insights and experience in creating economic and social value across various sectors/fields, including poverty alleviation, energy, health, and sustainability. Students will learn to think strategically and act opportunistically with a socially conscious business mindset. Topics will cover assessing problems/opportunities, acquiring the necessary resources to grow social enterprises, and the trade-offs between social and financial investments. Students will also be exposed to various models of social organizations that have made real progress and are able to serve the world’s poorest populations. Ultimately, the social enterprise business plan will facilitate the sharing of knowledge, best practices, and learning from the process of launching a social enterprise.
